Hello world :)
Today Christians celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, it is but a happy day! While the rest of the world probably parties or goes on an egg hunt. This is the perfect day to talk about life and acceptance.
Over the passed couple of weeks, I have said "my condolences" to my friends more than I care to...it's just but a reminder that life is timed, your life and mine runs on an hour glass...Once the sand (our time on earth) is up, so are we. "Earth is now, heaven is forever. " That's a topic for another day.
In relation to beauty, it comes down to one thing, acceptance. Do you accept yourself the way you are? Using another Bible analogy, Matthew 22 Jesus was asked a question in regards to what the greatest commandment was...
37 "Jesus replied, 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.' 38 This is the greatest and the most important commandment. 39 The second most important commandment is like it: 'Love your neighbor as you love yourself. ' 40 The Whole Law of Moses and the teachings of the prophets depend on these two commandments."
It must be pretty important if the law of Moses depends on these two commands. Besides loving God first, it cannot be stressed enough that you love yourself just as much as you love the person next to you. Even if you're not Christian, you must love yourself. That's where it pretty much all starts, the self esteem, confidence, "Swag", it all starts with loving who you are. Accept yourself the way you are before making any changes. Yes, I know yesterday we talked about change but before the change can occur, it's important to accept the way you are now. Most people would disagree with me but this is my take on it, it's what works for me.
It took me a while to get to the place I am now, it took a few tears and all. Over the years, I looked at myself and thought I was "fat", yes we are talking about this. Initially, I used to wear a size M/L but in my mind, I was a 3X. It sounds ridiculous right? Proof? I went shopping with my aunt one time, I headed straight for the plus section, my aunt called me out and wondered what I was doing in that section and I told her I was looking for clothes. She laughed at me and told me I was in the wrong section. It's very difficult to make changes to things you don't accept; it requires mental adjustment to seeing what the mirror reflects and accepting it.
I can't stress this enough, accept yourself the way you are and love yourself for being who you are. If it means staring at yourself for hours till it sinks in, then do it. God makes no mistakes, so no, you're not a mistake. Stop the comparison syndrome, there's only one you and YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL.
:)
